2020年10月21日、前日に続き秋晴れになったので水元公園を散歩した。森で2，3羽の小鳥を見た。5，6人の「とりびと」がレンズを向け始めた。 キビタキのオスとメスそれにコサメビタキがいると言う。しばらくすると、黄色い小鳥の姿が見えたので写真を撮った。 キビタキかと思ったが、写真を見るとマヒワだった。
On October 21, 2020, I strolled in Mizumoto Park because it was sunny following the day before. I saw a few small birds in the forest. Five or six photographers began to point the lens of the cameras. They said that there were male and female narcissus flycatchers and brown flycatchers. After a while, I saw a small yellow bird, so I took photos. I thought it was a narcissus flycatcher, but when I saw the photo, it was a Eurasian siskin.

マヒワは以前カワラヒワ属に分類されていたが、DNA分析によりSpinus属に移された。Spinus属には20種が含まれ、新世界のフィンチが多く、 旧世界ではマヒワとTibetan serinが含まれるにすぎない。新旧大陸のフィンチの進化は、ガラパゴス諸島のダーウィンフィンチを連想させる 興味ある現象だ。

All of the species in the genus, except for the Tibetan serin, were formerly included in the genus Carduelis. They were moved to the resurrected genus Spinus based on phylogenetic studies of mitochondrial and nuclear DNA sequences. The Tibetan serin was formerly placed in the genus Serinus. The Eurasian siskin and the Tibetan serin are the only species from the Old World included in the group.
