2017年2月26日、水元公園を散歩した。公園のカワセミの池にゴイサギの幼鳥がいた。羽衣の色は枯れた葦の保護色になっている。 ダイサギやゴイサギはなぜ世界中に分布するのだろう？魚を追ってどこにでも空中移動できるのだろうか？私は南米のパラグアイで ダイサギとササゴイを見て大変驚いた。
On February 26, 2017, I strolled in Mizumoto Park. There was an immature night heron in the kingfisher’s pond in the park. The color of the plumage is the protective color of the dead reed. Why Great egret and Black-crowned night heron distribute around the world? I wonder they can fly anywhere chasing the fish? I was very surprised to see the Great egret and the Striated heron in Paraguay in South America.

ゴイサギ（五位鷺、学名：Nycticorax nycticorax）は、ペリカン目サギ科ゴイサギ属に分類される鳥類。分布: アフリカ大陸、 北アメリカ大陸、南アメリカ大陸、ユーラシア大陸、インドネシア。幼鳥は上面が褐色の羽毛で被われ、黄褐色の斑点が入る。 この斑点が星のように見える事からホシゴイの別名がある。下面は汚白色の羽毛で被われる。虹彩は黄色がかったオレンジ色。 眼先は、黄緑色の皮膚が露出する。

The black-crowned night heron (Nycticorax nycticorax), commonly abbreviated to just night heron in Eurasia, is a medium-sized heron found throughout a large part of the world, except in the coldest regions and Australasia (where it is replaced by the closely related rufous night heron, with which it has hybridized in the area of contact). Immature birds have dull grey-brown plumage on their heads, wings, and backs, with numerous pale spots. Their underparts are paler and streaked with brown. The young birds have orange eyes and duller yellowish-green legs.
