2020年4月15日、散歩から帰る時、交差点にある調整池の水辺に小鳥がいることに気づいた。 よく見かけるセキレイだろうと思ったが良く見ると歩き方が違う。写真を撮ってみると、この小鳥は黄色いアイリングが目立つコチドリだった。なぜこんな場所にチドリがいるんだろう？ 前々日、強風が吹いたので、チドリは移動の途中で一時退避したのかな？次の日（4/16）に散歩した時にはチドリはいなくなっていた。
On April 15, 2020, when I returned from a walk, I noticed that there was a small bird at the water side of the regulating reservoir at the intersection. I thought it would be the popular wagtail, but when I looked at it closely its walking style was different from that of the wagtail. I took the photo of the bird and noticed that this little bird was a Little ringed plover with a clear yellow eye-ring. Why is there a plover in such a place? The strong wind blew the day before yesterday, so I wondered if the plover temporarily evacuated during the move? When I took a walk the next day (4/16), the plover was gone.

Their breeding habitat is open gravel areas near freshwater, including gravel pits, islands and river edges across the Palearctic including northwestern Africa. They nest on the ground on stones with little or no plant growth. Both males and females take turns incubating the eggs.
