2020年2月11日、手賀川流域でチョウゲンボウを見かけた。チョウゲンボウは上空でホバリングを始めた。
On February 11, 2020, I saw a kestrel in the Tega River basin. The kestrel began hovering in the sky.

チョウゲンボウは上空でホバリングしながら地上を見つめていた。尾羽を広げているのでその模様が良く見える。尾羽の先端の黒い帯が特に目立つのでこのチョウゲンボウはオスではないだろうか。
The kestrel was looking at the ground while hovering over the sky. The pattern of the tail wings is clearly visible as they are widened. Isn’t this kestrel a male because the black band at the tip of the tail feather is particularly noticeable?

チョウゲンボウはホバリングを止めた、どうやら獲物はいなかったらしい。 約一分後、チョウゲンボウはまたホバリングを始めた。 今回も獲物はいなかったらしくチョウゲンボウは飛び去った。 私は南米のパラグアイで何回かアメリカチョウゲンボウを見たことがあります。
The kestrel stopped hovering and apparently there was no prey. About a minute later, the kestrel started hovering again. This time the kestrel flew away, apparently having no prey. I have seen American Kestrel several times in Paraguay, South America.
