2者の体側面を比較すると、体に比較してウグイスの尾羽はムジセッカより明らかに長い。

斜め後方から見た場合、ムジセッカの上面の色は灰褐色、ウグイスのそれはオリーブ褐色という違いが分かる。 直射日光と陰では色彩が違って見えるなど、色の比較には困難が付きまとうが上述の違いは確かだ。
