葛西臨海公園のクイナ, Brown-cheeked rail of Kasai Rinkai Park.
クイナは半夜行性なので午後に歩き回ることが多いようだが、この日（2018年3月14日）には葛西臨海公園の上の池周辺で午前中に1回、 午後に2回見ることができた。クイナを間近に見ることができる場所があると教わった。なるほど、クイナが現れて水辺で餌を探しながら歩き回った。 クイナは雑食で水辺の生き物や植物の種子などを食べるという。このクイナが何を捕食したのかは確認できなかった。
Brown-cheeked rail seems to walk around in the afternoon because it is semi-nocturnal, but on this day (March 14, 2018) I could see it once in the morning and twice in the afternoon around the upper pond of Kasai Rinkai Park. I heard that there is a place where the brown-cheeked rail is seen closer. Indeed, the rail appeared and wandered around the waters looking for bait. The rail is omnivorous to eat waterfront creatures and plant seeds. I could not confirm what this rail had predated.
ヒクイナが現れる場所で待っていたらクイナが現れた。この場所では順光状態になるので写真撮影には向いている。 望遠レンズを向けて撮影している10人位の我々の前をクイナはゆっくり通り過ぎて行った。
When I was waiting at the place where the ruddy-breasted crake would appear, the rail showed up. It is suitable for photography because ti is in the forward light condition at this place. The rail slowly passed before the ten of us who were taking photos with telephoto lens.
