2016年5月3日、我孫子市にある手賀沼公園を散歩した。湖畔の草原で小さいシギが餌を探していた。イソシギのようだ。
On April 30, 2016, I strolled in Tega-Pond Park in Abiko city. A small snipe was looking for bait at a lakeside grassy plain. The snipe may be Common sandpiper.

イソシギ（磯鷸、Actitis hypoleucos）は、チドリ目シギ科に分類される鳥類。Actitis属の模式種。

分布: 夏季にユーラシア大陸の温帯域、亜寒帯域で繁殖し、冬季（北半球の）はアフリカ大陸やオーストラリア大陸、 ユーラシア大陸南部などへ南下し越冬する。 日本では九州以北に周年生息する留鳥であるが、本州中部地方以北では冬季になると 越冬のため南下する夏鳥である。
形態: 全長20cm。翼長29cm。翼開張38-41cm。上面は灰褐色で覆われ、羽毛の軸に沿った斑紋（軸斑）は黒い。 下面は白い羽毛で覆われ、胸部側面に羽角にかけて白い部分が切れこむ。
生態: 主に河川や湖沼の周辺に生息する。非繁殖期には干潟や岩礁海岸にも生息する。食性は動物食で、主に昆虫を食べるが、甲殻類、軟体動物も食べる。 獲物は水辺を徘徊したり泳ぎながら捕食する。
The common sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos) is a small Palearctic wader. This bird and its American sister species, the spotted sandpiper (A. macularia), make up the genus Actitis. They are parapatric and replace each other geographically; stray birds of either species may settle down with breeders of the other and hybridize. Hybridization has also been reported between the common sandpiper and the green sandpiper, a basal species of the closely related shank genus Tringa.
