モリスの思想と夢を凝縮したような本である。物語は、主人公が22世紀のロンドンを旅するファンタジー。モリスの著作の中で最も売れたもののひとつだが、描かれた未来は人々が労働を喜びとするモリスの理想郷だ。本自体にもモリスの拘りが詰まっている。15世紀のイタリアの活字を参考にしてモリスが作り出したゴールデン書体。レイアウト、紙やインクの選定、印刷工程にまで目を配った。扉絵はモリスの別荘ケルムスコット・マナー。

This book is a condensation of Morris’ thoughts and dreams. The story is a fantasy story in which the main character travels through London in the 22nd century. This is one of Morris’ best-selling books, and the future it depicts is his utopia, where people find joy in their work. The book itself is filled with Morris’s commitment. A golden typeface created by Morris based on 15th century Italian typeface. He paid close attention to the layout, paper and ink selection, and even the printing process. The front cover is of Morris’ holiday home, Kelmscott Manor.
