ルイス・コンフォート・ティファニー, Louis Comfort Tiffany, 1848-1933
アメリカのガラス工芸作家・宝飾デザイナー、ニューヨーク市にティファニー商会を創設したチャールズ・ルイス・ティファニーに長男として生まれた。1879年に「ティファニー&アソシエーディッド・アーティスツ」を設立し、1885年には「ティファニー・グラス工房」を開設、1900年頃に「ティファニー・スタジオ」と社名変更。ティファニー商会は現存しているが、「ティファニー・スタジオ」はルイス・コンフォート逝去で閉鎖。

He was the eldest son of Charles Lewis Tiffany, an American glass artist and jewelry designer who founded the Tiffany & Co. in New York City. He founded “Tiffany & Associated Artists” in 1879, opened “Tiffany Glass Studio” in 1885, and changed the company name to “Tiffany Studio” around 1900. Tiffany & Co. still exists, but “Tiffany Studio” closed due to the death of Louis Comfort.

卓上ランプは、ティファニー・スタジオ」の商品の中で最も人気を博したものであった。型吹きガラスあるいはステンドグラスのランプ・シェードとブロンズ彫刻を合体させた2種類がある。この百合型のランプは、その中でもベストセラーとなった商品の一つ。様々なヴァリエーションが作られたが、ルイス.C.ティファニー自身がデザインした24輪の電球部分と睡蓮の基部を組み合わせた作品は、1902年のトリノ万博で金賞を受賞している。

Table lamps were Tiffany Studio’s most popular product. There are two types that combine molded glass or stained-glass lamp shades with bronze sculptures. This lily-shaped lamp is one of their best-selling products. Various variations were made, but Louis C. Tiffany’s own design, which combined 24 bulbs with a water lily base, won a gold medal at the 1902 Turin World’s Fair.
