ナツアカネ, Summer darter

こんぶくろ池自然博物公園を散歩していると、草に止まった赤とんぼを見かけた。アキアカネに似ているが7月なので、ナツアカネではないかと思った。胸の模様を拡大してみると、前から2番目の黒い帯模様の先端が角ばった形状であり、ナツアカネの特徴を示している。さらに、尻尾をみると、このトンボはナツアカネのメスだ。

While walking around Konbukuro-Pond Nature Museum Park, I spotted a red dragonfly resting on the grass. It looked similar to an autumn darter, but since it was July, I thought it might be a summer darter. Zooming in on the pattern on its chest, I saw that the tip of the second black stripe from the front was angular, a feature of the summer darter. Furthermore, looking at its tail, I realized that this dragonfly was a female summer darter.
