木の穴に巣を作るスズメバチ

こんぶくろ池自然博物公園を散歩していると、木の穴にスズメバチが巣を作っている光景を見かけた。大きくないのでオオスズメバチではないようだ。危険なので、ハチに注意の警告が表示されていた。でも、オオスズメバチではないためか、巣は取り除かれないでそのままの状態にしてあるようだ。このスズメバチの種類はなんだろう？木の穴に巣を作っているので、モンスズメバチではないだろうか。

When I was taking a walk in Konbukuro Pond Natural Museum Park, I saw a scene where hornets were making a nest in a hole in a tree. They are not big, so they don’t look like Northern giant hornets. Because they are dangerous, a warning “Beware of hornets!” was displayed. However, perhaps because they are not giant hornets, it seems that the nest is left as it is without being removed. What kind of hornet is this? It’s making a nest in a tree hole, so it’s probably a European hornet.
