秋のキタテハ, The Asian comma in fall.

　キタテハの翅の表は秋に発生する成虫の場合鮮やかな山吹色だ。翅の裏は枯葉にそっくりで、C字型の小さな模様がある。 冬は成虫で越冬すると言う。
　The upper surface of the wings of the Polygonia c-aureum is bright golden yellow in the case of adults that emerge in autumn. The underside of the wing looks like a dead leaf and has a small C-shaped pattern. It is said that they overwinter as adults in winter.

春のキタテハ, The Asian comma in spring.

春の4月にキタテハをみかけた。翅の裏は木の樹皮のような茶色で、後翅の裏にはC字型の小さな模様「c-aureum」がある。この時期に咲くタンポポの花の蜜をすっている。
I saw an Asian comma on April 5 in spring. The undersides of the wings is mottled brown (tree bark like) with a shiny comma mark on the center of the hindwing. It is eating the nectar of the dandelion flowers that bloom at this time.
