一万キロノンストップ飛行の世界記録を持つオオソリハシシギ, Bar-tailed godwit having record of 10,000km, the longest known non-stop flight of any bird.
2016年5月12日、船橋市にあるふなばし三番瀬海浜公園を散歩した。10時半頃を過ぎると潮が引いて来てしだいに広い干潟が現れ始めた。 その干潟に沢山のシギやチドリが集まってきた。左の写真には長く上に反っているくちばしを持つオオソリハシシギ1羽と2羽のキョウジョシギが写っている。 右の写真には体の下面が赤褐色のオスと色の薄いメスが並んでいる。メスの方がやや体が大きい。
On May 12, 2016, I strolled in Funabashi Sanbanze Seaside Park in Funabashi city. The tide went down and a large tidal flats had gradually begun to appear after about half past 10. Many sandpipers and plovers gathered in the tidal flats. On the left photo, one Bar-tailed godwit with the long and slightly upturned bill and two Ruddy turnstones are seen. On the right photo, a male Bar-tailed godwit with the neck, breast and belly being unbroken brick red in breeding plumage and a female with pale color of them are seen. The female has a slightly bigger body.
オオソリハシシギシギ（左写真メス）はほかのシギより大きく足も長いので、より深い所で餌を探す傾向があるように見える。この（右写真）シギはオオソリハシシギシギのオスだろう。
The Bar-tailed godwit (left photo: female) seems to look for bait in a deeper place because it is bigger than other sandpipers and has log feet. This (right photo) sandpiper seems to be a male of the Bar-tailed godwit.
この写真にはオオソリハシシギシギ、ハマシギ、ダイゼンが写っているので、それらの大きさの違いが分かる。
The Bar-tailed godwit, Dunlin and Grey plover are seen in these photos, and then it is seen the difference in size of them.
