冬、公園で時々アカハラを見かける。アカハラは亜種アカハラと亜種オオアカハラに分類されていると言う。それらの判別は難しいが、冬場に関東で見られるアカハラはほぼ全てオオアカハラだという説もあるそうだ。水元公園と秋ヶ瀬公園で見たアカハラを良く見ると、どちらもオオアカハラではないかと思われる。
Sometimes I see Brown-headed thrushes in parks in winter. It is said that the Brown-headed thrushes are classified as subspecies Turdus chrysolaus chrysolaus and Turdus chrysolaus orii. Although it is difficult to distinguish between the two, it is said that almost all of the Brown-headed thrushes seen in the Kanto district in winter may be Turdus chrysolaus orii. Looking closely at the thrushes at Mizumoto Park and Akigase Park, It seems that either of them is Turdus chrysolaus orii.
2017年2月の晴れた日に、水元公園の木の根元で餌を探すアカハラを見かけた。この鳥は頭部がかなり黒っぽくかつ羽衣が濃いので亜種のオオアカハラではないだろうか。
On sunny day of February 2017, I saw a Brown-headed thrush looking for food at the base of the tree in Mizumoto Park. I think this bird has a somewhat dark head and darker plumage so it may be a subspecies the Brown-headed thrush, Turdus chrysolaus orii.

2019年2月の寒い日に、秋ヶ瀬公園の木の枝に止まっているアカハラを2羽見かけた。この鳥は頭部がかなり黒っぽくかつ羽衣が濃いので亜種のオオアカハラではないだろうか。
On cold day of February 2017, I saw two Brown-headed thrushes perching on branches of a tree in Mizumoto Park. I think this bird has a somewhat dark head and darker plumage so it may be a subspecies the Brown-headed thrush, Turdus chrysolaus orii.
