水元公園の森をでて、芦原の所に行った時、モズが餌を食べているシーンに出会った。モズはかなり大きい昆虫（カマキリ？）を木の枝に突き刺して、 それを嘴で摘まみとって食べていた。モズの足は武器になるほど強力には見えない。このモズは足で餌をつかんで食べている、 このような足の使い方はオウムやインコに見られる器用な行動だ。モズは突き刺した餌を嘴で摘まみ取っている。モズの嘴は猛禽類のように鉤状になっているので獲物を引き裂くのに適している。 モズが獲物を木の枝などに突き刺す目的の1つが、獲物を固定した上で引きちぎって食べるためであることが分かる。
When I left the forest of Mizumoto Park and went to Ashihara, I encountered a scene where a shrike was eating food. The shrike stabbed a fairly large insect (mantis?)
