チョウの吸水, Absorbing water of the butterfly

柏の葉第2水辺公園の遊歩道横の湿った地面でチョウが吸水していた。3頭もいる、アゲハ2頭とアオスジアゲハ1頭だ。特に若いオスのチョウが吸水することが知られているそうだ。ここの地面にはチョウが必要とするイオンを含んでいるのだろう。

The butterflies were absorbing water on the damp ground next to the promenade at Kashiwanoha 2^nd Waterside Park. There were three of them, two Asian Swallowtails and one Common Bluebottle. Some young male butterflies in particular are known to absorb water. The ground here must contain ions that the butterflies need.
