2020年2月2日、橋にいた撮影者の一人が言った「逆光なので黒く見えたからカラスかと思ったが飛び方が違う、チュウヒだ。」 チュウヒはＶ字翼で低空を低速飛行し獲物を探した。以前（2018年12月21日）、私は手賀沼自然ふれあい緑道を歩いている時、 偶然一羽のチュウヒが上空を飛び去るのを見た。

チュウヒは田の上で獲物をねらうような飛び方をした。遠いが順光状態なので羽衣の模様が分かる。 このチュウヒは全身が褐色の羽毛に覆われ、腹面は淡褐色で褐色の斑紋が入るように見えるのでメスかもしれない。
The harrier flew over the field as if aiming for prey. Since it was in the normal light, the pattern of the plumage can be seen, though it was far. The harrier may be female, as the whole body is covered with brown feathers and the belly looks light brown with brown spots.
