木の葉の上でハラビロカマキリ（Hierodula patellifera）が小さい昆虫（コオロギかな？）を捕まえて食べているようだ。カマキリを上から見ると1対の前足は胸部に付いているが2対の後足は腹部に付いているように見える。しかし、カマキリはそんな例外的な昆虫ではない。全3対の足は胸部に付いている。
A bell-bellied praying mantis (Hierodula patellifera) has caught a small insect (a cricket?) and is eating it on a tree leaf. When viewed from above, the mantis appears to have a pair of front legs attached to its thorax and two pairs of hind legs attached to its abdomen. But the praying mantis is no such anomalous insect. All three pairs of legs are attached to the thorax.
