2016年4月22日、我孫子市にある手賀沼公園を散歩した。この沼では、外来種であるコブハクチョウが定着し繁殖している。 つがいが枯れた葦の茎を集め大きい巣を作っていた。
On April 30, 2016, I strolled in Tega-Pond Park in Abiko city. At this pond, the mute swan which is an alien species has colonized and bred. A pair of the mute swan was making a big nest by collecting stems of the reed.

コブハクチョウの巣作りを見てから約1か月後、親鳥と一緒に2羽の雛がいた。雛はくちばしが黒くこぶはない。
There were two chicks with parent mute swan after I saw the nesting about one month before. The chicks do not have knob on their black bill.

少し離れた場所に別のコブハクチョウのつがいと5羽の雛がいた。 On the slightly remote place, there were a pair of different mute swan and their five chicks.

この場所は水田だ。コブハクチョウの親子は植えて間もない稲の葉をついばんでいた。水田の所有者が近くで農作業をしていたが 「困ったもんだ。」と言っていた。
This place is a rice field. The parent and chicks of the mute swan were pecking leaves of the newly planted rice. The owner of the rice field was farming near and said “Oh, dear, dear! What shall I do with them?”

遊歩道を歩いて行くとまたコブハクチョウのつがいと4羽の雛に会った。雛は生まれて間もないようだ。近くにカラスがいて雛を狙っていた。 手賀沼のコブハクチョウは人なれしているので沢山のブログに登場している。それによれば、この沼には30羽以上生息していて毎年繁殖し 飽和状態だという。外来種の定着は環境に悪影響を与えることが多いので観察を続ける必要がある。
I met a different pair and four chicks of the mute swan again when I walked the promenade. The chicks seemed to hatch recently. There was a crow near and aimed at the chicks. The mute swan of Tega Pond is not shy of human at all and appears on many blogs. According to the blogs, the mute swans inhabit this pond more than 30, and they breed every year and have saturated. It is necessary to continue observing the colonization of alien species because it often exerts a bad influence on the natural environment.
