コミミズクは農家にとってネズミを駆除するので益鳥だ。Owls are beneficial birds for farmers because they exterminate rats.
コミミズクは撮影者のいる農道近くに立つ杭に止まった。農家の方が仕事の為コミミズクに近づいてきたが、コミミズクは全く気にしなかった 。
The owl perched on a stake standing near the farm road where the photographers were. A farmer approached the owl for work, but the owl did not mind him at all.
約4分後、コミミズクは杭から飛び出して農家の方がいる方向に飛んで行った。この日、私は自転車でここまで来たので明るいうちに帰ろうと思って午後3時になったら現場を離れた。帰路、またコミミズクが土手を横断する場面に出会った。何人もの住民が土手を歩いていたが、コミミズクは気にしない様子だ。
About four minutes later, the owl jumped out of the stake and flew in the direction of the farmer.
The short-eared owl flew in my direction and passed by fairly closely. On this day, I came here by bicycle, so I left the site at 3:00 pm, thinking about going home while it was bright. On the way home, I saw another owl crossing a bank. Many inhabitants were walking on the bank, but the owl does not seem to mind them.

私はパラグアイでアナホリフクロウが天敵をさけるため人間の居住地近くに巣を作って住む例を複数回見た。このコミミズクもノスリなどを避けるため人間を利用しようとしているんだろうか？
I’ve seen multiple instances of Burrowing Owls nesting near human settlements in Paraguay to avoid natural enemies. Is this owl also trying to use humans to avoid buzzards?
