サンタ・クルス島のカッショクペリカン (Brown pelican of Santa Cruz Island)

• Baltra 島とSanta Cruz 島は狭い（約400m）イタバカ海峡(Itabaca Channel)で隔てられる。Dock Baltraからフェリーに乗り、 イタバカ海峡(Itabaca Channel)を渡り、対岸のSanta Cruz 島のDockに到着した（数分程度）。Santa Cruz 島のDockにはトイレも完備している。 Dock周辺には数種類の海鳥が定住しているようだ。

Santa Cruz島のイタバカ海況Dockでバスの待ち時間、約2分間で見た海鳥、カッショクペリカン（Brown pelican）。

サンタ・クルス（Santa Cruz）島のDockでバスの待ち時間、約2分間で見た海鳥、カッショクペリカン（Brown pelican）と クロアジサシ（Brown noddy）。カッショクペリカンもダイブして魚をキャッチする。 ペリカンが大きい袋を持つくちばしを水面に突っ込めば魚と一緒に大量の海水がはいる。海水を吐き出すとき小魚も出るのかもしれない。 クロアジサシがペリカンの頭に止っておこぼれをねらっている。カッショクペリカンのいる岸辺で、この面白い光景を良く見かけた。

Two seabirds, Brown pelican and Brown noddy which I saw at the pier of the Santa Cruz Island in waiting time of the bus, approximately two minutes. The Brown pelican also dives into the sea and catches fish. A large quantity of seawater enters with fish in the mouth if the pelican shoves the bill into the surface of the water. When the pelican spits out seawater, the small fish may come out. A noddy perches on the head of the pelican and aims at a piece of the fish. On the bank where Brown pelican was, I saw this interesting scene well.
