サンタ・クルス島のアマサギ, Cattle egret of Santa Cruz Island

2015年9月11日、サンタ・クルス（Santa Cruz）島中央部（Highland地区）にあるゾウガメ育成地を見学した。林に囲まれた広い自然の草原だ。乾季になるとゾウガメはこの地区に集まるという。ゾウガメが新しい草を食べられるように係員が草刈をしていた。

On September 11, 2015, we saw Highland district of Santa Cruz Island to grow Galapagos tortoises. The place is a wide natural grassy plain among forests, and it is said that the Galapagos tortoises gather here in this place when it is the dry season. A worker was mowing grasses so the Galapagos toutoise could eat new grasses.

アマサギ, Bubulcus ibis

草刈をした後には沢山のフィンチが餌を求めて集まっていた。フィンチ以外に、このアマサギも数羽集まっていた。このサギは南米でみるアマサギと同じ種だ。

After the grasses were cut manu finches gathered for bait. Several Cattle egrets also gathered other than the finches. This egret is the species as same as that of South America.
