サンタ・クルス島のガラパゴスマネシツグミ, Galapagos mockingbird of Santa Cruz Island

2015年9月11日、サンタ・クルス（Santa Cruz）島中央部（Highland地区）にあるゾウガメ育成地を見学した。 林に囲まれた広い自然の草原だ。乾季になるとゾウガメはこの地区に集まるという。ゾウガメが新しい草を食べられるように係員が草刈をしていた。草刈をした後には沢山のフィンチが餌を求めて集まっていた。フィンチ以外にアマサギも数羽集まっていた。草原を囲む林の木の枝にガラパゴスマネシツグミがいるのに気付いた。

On September 11, 2015, we saw Highland district of Santa Cruz Island to grow Galapagos tortoises. The place is a wide natural grassy plain among forests, and it is said that the Galapagos tortoises gather here in this place when it is the dry season. A worker was mowing grasses so the Galapagos tortoise could eat new grasses. After the grasses were cut, many finches gathered for bait. Several Cattle egrets also gathered other than the finches. I noticed that there was a Galapagos mockingbird on the branch of the tree of the forest around the grassy plain.
