サンタ・フェ島のガラパゴスバト, Galapagos dove of the Santa Fe Island

Santa Fe島の小さい砂浜には沢山のアシカが寝そべっていた。
Many sea lions lay at full length in the small sandy beach of the Santa Fe Island.

アシカの寝そべっている砂浜の横に岩場が続く。その岩の上に特異な模様を持つハトがいた。ガラパゴスの固有種ガラパゴスバトだ。
A rocky place spreads out beside the sandy beach where the sea lions lie. There was a dove with a specific plumage on the rock. This is Galapagos dove which is endemic to Galapagos Islands.

ハトの頭部を見ると、水色のアイリングが目立つ。羽毛は茶色が基調で、翼に黒っぽい斑点状の模様がある。どんなハトから進化したのだろう。
A light blue eye ring is outstanding on seeing the head of the dove. Brown is the basic tone of the plumage and the wing has a pattern of blackish punctuation. I wonder what kind of dove evolved to this species.
